The Gaming Outsider

The Gaming Outsider Podcast is a show dedicated to video gaming of all kinds with a focus on the community. Here at The GO, we don't subscribe to just one platform, and we realize that we don't have the ability to play every game that's out there. Our goal is to discuss ours and our listener's perspectives on current and former games that we have played while keeping a positive environment.

In episode 184 of The Gaming Outsider podcast, the gang discusses a slew of gaming news, titles we've been playing this week and our weekly community topic.

News is slow this week but we had fun discussing a few items that dropped recently. Sea of Thieves developer Rare promises no loot boxes for the upcoming pirate title, but will include microtransactions. Should we praise Rare for this? Fortnite drops a new update adding a lot of new goodies to the game, so Robby gives us the details on that. Also, the System Shock remake Kickstarter campaign goes on hiatus. Are we tired of Kickstarter projects disappointing us?

Games we discuss this week are as follows:

  • Shadow of the Colossus (PS4)
  • Fe
  • Fortnite
  • Pinball FX3 Jurassic Park Pack
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3DS
  • Bayonetta for Nintendo Switch
  • Steamworld Dig 2

Our community topic reaches out to everyone in our Facebook group asking a simple question: have you ever regretted buying a specific console in your life? If so, which one and why? Which bad console still won Josh's heart in the end? What's Scott's biggest gaming regret? Which surprising retro console makes Zach the most nostalgic to the point where the discussion literally had him scouring eBay? Our hosts reveal their answers and also read several responses from our community.

The audio tracks were out of sync and strange audio feedback occurs from time to time. Originally, we were going to scrap the episode but since there's a lot of good discussion in here and we didn't want to leave our fans empty handed this week, we decided to work with it the best we could. We hope you enjoy the episode anyway and we apologize for the rough edges this week.
